The 30-Day Engagement Window: When to Reach Newly-Engaged Couples

Most venues are booked within sixty days of an engagement. Here’s how to make sure yours is the first brochure on the kitchen counter.

Wedding venues compete on two things: the venue itself, and timing. The venue is what it is — you’re unlikely to change the grounds, the chandeliers, or the parking. Timing, however, is a problem you can solve.

The engagement signal

Couples announce engagements publicly within days. Within two to four weeks, they begin actively researching venues. Within six to eight weeks, most have toured one to three locations. The decision is usually narrowed to two venues within ninety days of engagement and locked within six months.

Why first beats best

A couple touring three venues will, in most cases, pick the first one that felt right — not the objectively best one. Recency and emotional pacing matter more than feature comparison. Being the first beautiful brochure on the kitchen counter is worth more than being the third venue tour.

The mail piece

Spend money on the piece. Heavy stock, real photography (not stock), gold or foil treatment where it fits. The piece itself signals quality and price tier before the venue is ever seen. Include a single, personal note from the venue’s lead coordinator and a phone number that goes to a real person.

The next thirty days

Follow up at days seven, fourteen, and twenty-eight — each piece slightly more specific. Day seven, a real wedding album. Day fourteen, a sample weekday-vs-weekend pricing card. Day twenty-eight, a personal invitation to a private tour. Couples who receive all three touches book at two to three times the rate of those who get only the initial brochure.

Bottom Line

Reduce Client Acquisition Costs.

Fewer wasted impressions. Higher match rates. Sharper lists. The math is simple — pay less to reach the people most likely to buy.
